I've created some lesson materials for various classes that I'd like to share:
Storybird Unit Design: This unit combines Language Arts and technology to create digital Cinderella adaptations. This unit took place over 5 weeks: 3 weeks of creation and 2 of presentation. It unit was extremely successful and allowed all levels of learners to participate and succeed. Visual learners had fun choosing pictures, low level learners stayed engaged, and even ESL students had fun writing their stories using Google Translator!
Database Lesson: This lesson was presented to a 7th grade class starting research projects. It explains how to access databases and ebooks, and how these sources combine the reputability of books with the speed of the Internet
Collaborative History/Library Unit: This month-long unit was designed as a collaboration between an 8th grade history teacher and a Media Specialist. It combines a number of formative assessments and technological interventions to create an engaging, rigorous unit. It includes detailed roles for both the history teacher and the Media Specialist, as well as all supporting worksheets and graphic organizers.
Harry Potter After-School Event: Though not a lesson, this event was a large success! To celebrate the release of the 7th Harry Potter movie in November, I arranged and held an after-school Harry Potter trivia game. 25 students participated in teams, and I created a game board using the Web 2.0 application JeopardyLabs. The game board was shown on the Smartboard, and students turned in their answers on slips of paper. I also arranged to have the local movie theater donate movie tickets for the winners.
I've also created a detailed Needs Assessment and Three Year Action Plan for a school library. For privacy reasons, I don't have it posted here; however, it is available upon request. I am extremely familiar with assessing and analyzing media centers in terms of staffing, budget, instruction, collection, and facility.
